2013 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes

For the fourth consecutive year, The College of Wooster women's tennis team earned recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as an All-Academic Team, the organization announced recently.

Additionally, four Fighting Scots – junior Rachel Appleton, freshman Kimberly Carter, sophomore Melanie Chin, and senior Lauren Gilliss – were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is issued to those programs with team cumulative grade-point averages of 3.20 or above. Wooster was one of 79 NCAA Div. III schools to receive the honor for 2013 and one of just four from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

ITA Scholar-Athletes are those individuals who achieved at least a 3.50 GPA for the academic year and been a varsity letter winner.

On the court, the Scots made dramatic improvement under the direction of first-year head coach Amy Behrman as they went 9-13 this past season, marking the most wins since 2004. Also, their sixth-place finish in the NCAC was the team's highest in eight years.
