The College of Wooster continued to show strong improvement over last year in its match with Wittenberg University on Saturday at the Scot Center courts, as it nearly swept the Tigers with an 8-1 victory, a program the Scots lost to 9-0 a season ago.

Wooster (8-10) started by taking two of three doubles matches, with No. 1's Catherine Christian and Melanie Chin, and No. 3's Rachel Dietz and Rachel Appleton winning 8-6 and 8-2, respectively

The Fighting Scots proceeded to sweep all six singles contests, highlighted by Christian's 6-3, 6-0 triumph atop the lineup. It was her eighth win at No. 1 singles this season.

The action in the middle of the lineup was a bit more competitive, as Rose Chiumento, Chin, and Dietz each battled through lengthy matches to notch victories, while No. 5 Kimberly Carter (6-4, 6-0) and No. 6 Lauren Gilliss (6-1, 6-2) cruised past their opponents.

Wooster has already made a five-match improvement over last year's record, and will wrap up its regular season with a trip to Baldwin Wallace University (9-14) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
