The College of Wooster faced the No. 12 ranked team in the NCAA Div. III Central Region, Kenyon College, on Wednesday, and despite several strong performances, especially in doubles, the Fighting Scots took a 9-0 setback in the North Coast Athletic Conference East Division women's tennis match-up at Gambier, Ohio.
Wooster (7-10, 0-3 NCAC) appeared to be on its way to a point at No. 3 doubles, as Kimberly Carter and Rachel Appleton were leading, but Kenyon (10-4, 1-0 NCAC East) came back for an 8-5 decision there. Taking three games at second doubles were Rose Chiumento and Lauren Gilliss before succumbing (8-3).
Gilliss also won three games during her singles match at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1) for the Scots, who were without their No. 1 player.
Wooster will make its final home appearance of the season Saturday afternoon when it hosts rival Wittenberg University (5-8, 0-1 NCAC West).
