KevinJo Atkins enters his second season as the defensive line coach at The College of Wooster in 2018.

In his first year with the Black and Gold, sophomore D’Andre Brown earned second-team all-conference honors in his first full season as a starter, and classmate Robert Alvarez broke the program’s single-game sack record with 4.5 against Hiram College.

Atkins, who was a member of the University of New Mexico football team for three seasons, came to the College from La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif., where he coached the defensive line. Atkins’ coaching career previously took him to Maranatha Christian High School in San Diego.

As a player, Atkins began his collegiate career at San Diego Mesa College, where he was named the top student-athlete on the team prior to transferring to New Mexico.

Atkins holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from New Mexico, and recently earned his master’s in coaching education from Ohio University.
